BRUSHING WITH BRACES

Braces make it difficult to floss and brush your teeth. It is important to brush and floss after every meal, as plaque and food can get caught between the brackets and wires.

Brush with a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. Brush below and above the archwires. If you have any questions, please contact us. As long as the head fits properly, Proxabrush is a small brush with a tufted head.

Neglecting to brush your teeth regularly can lead to plaque buildup and whitened spots. These spots can become permanent and are more noticeable after the braces have been removed.

Remember to FLOSS!

Your teeth are also dependent on flossing. It is important to floss at least once per day. A threader is a great tool to make flossing more simple. Pull the floss through the loop of the needle. Push the straight end under wire to pull the floss through. Make sure to floss every tooth from both ends. The Superfloss may make it easier. It has a straight, stiff end and a tufted middle section. The stiff end should be inserted under the wire. You can then use the tufted section to floss between your teeth. A special flosser designed for braces may be recommended. Simply slide the thin arm under your archwire to floss each tooth. To make your job easier, we may recommend specific tools or rinses.

Flossing can be dangerous so you need to be careful. Using threaders makes the process much easier. Pull the floss through the loop of the threader, pushing the straight end under the wire. Then pull the floss through. Make sure to floss each tooth. Superfloss is a flexible floss that has both a straight, stiff end and a tufted centre. To floss, first thread the firm end under the wire. A special flosser is made for braces. Simply slide the arm under the archwire to floss each tooth. You can also use other tools to help you do the job properly.
