Nitrous oxide, also known as “laughing gas” or “happy gas”, is used to reduce anxiety and pain during oral treatment. The gas is inhaled through a nosepiece and the patient quickly feels better.

What should you expect from the program?

The patient lies on the dental chair, then inhales from the nasal piece. The nose piece doesn’t cover the mouth. The patient will feel tired after a while. The patient will feel alert and able to sense the world around them, but will soon become relaxed. They will feel tingling in their hands and feet soon, but they won’t remember it. The staff will monitor the patient’s condition and assist if necessary.
